iPod Options For Just About Any Vehicle "Universal" or "Direct"
A “Universal Input” uses the FM band on your stereo to receive the sound from your iPod. Now most people think that FM inputs are all the same… Wrong!!! We use the best kind of FM inputs and they are called FM Modulators. These FM Mods have a box that plugs directly into your FM antenna wire for the best signal and sound. After that, it comes in crystal clear with no static or station changing necessary. The product also comes with a switch to turn the input on and off. It comes with a switch so you can turn it off and still tune into your favorite FM stations.
When we do the installation, you have a choice where you want the switch to go and where you want the cord to come out.
After the installation is complete, all you have to do is plug your iPod into the cord, turn your radio to the proper station, and hit the switch and bingo!… your listening to your favorite music!
A “Direct input” plugs directly into the existing radio just like a CD Changer would. The sound quality using this input is the best because it does not use any FM channels to get sound into the stereo. It becomes an additional input or source on the stereo just like a CD player or cassette would be.
The reason this is not a universal input is because the inputs are dependent on the vehicle year, make, and model. That means that these types of inputs are only available on more mainstream type cars or more popular cars. For additional info to see if one of we have a direct input for your vehicle, feel free to give us a call at 530-885-5132.
The products we carry offer you a range of opportunities and choices.
The picture above shows a direct input for just about any car. An additional harness is needed to go with the part (additional purchase necessary, average harness is around $10-20) to make it plug into your vehicle.
The input device shown above is an "Auxiliary Input". That is most popular because it can be plugged into pretty much any device offered on the market with music on it.
All iPod input options we sell you are "made for iPod" which means they will charge the old 12v. iPods and all the new 5v. iPods/iPhones when plugged in. They will also not give you an error message when plugging into your iPhone.
