1990 Porsche Carrera Targa
The Porsche was our 1st major fiberglass project car. The 1st go around with the fiberglass finish, we tried vinyl wrapping the entire back of the molded piece for the amps and woofers. It had too many curves and contours in it so the material kept lifting off the enclosure. We had the customer come back so we could change it to a nice smooth finish for paint. We painted it black just like the car and it really stood out! It turned out perfect. The mold goes from the floor area where the speaker crossovers sit, (if you look closely you can see a window opening for them to show) then up to the seat area where the 10” Alpine subwoofers sit. We dished in the woofers to give it that extra “pop” and that made a huge difference. Just above that at the seat back area are the 2 Alpine amplifiers, one 1000-watt bass amp, and one 4x100 watt 4-channel amp. We used the same series amplifiers so they blended well and looked almost like 1 amplifier all the way across. The fiberglass sweeps up to the deck lid to a set of Alpine separates. Every product in the Porsche was Alpine. The head unit was a model # CDA-9815. The piece in the trunk (the front of the car) is a Phoenix Gold 50 Farad Capacitor. The entire car turned out awesome and sounded awesome. From what I hear, the owner and his girlfriend both love it.
